The kong extreme is a smart invention for dogs. I have a very large german shepherd dog and a lab/weirmaraner mix. Both are power chewers. The kong extreme has lasted so far 3 years without any rips. The red kong was chewed into sections by by labmaraner. The price could be better but overall me and the dogs totally approve!

I like the concept very much just wish that they held up to the name "indestructible". I bought multiple of these thinking that it would keep my standard schnauzer occupied. The night i bought it i gave it to him before i took my shower less than 5 min. later he had it completely shredded and in tiny pieces.

This has been a life saver for when I need to preoccupy my 6 mos old Boxer for some time while I do something. It's also been a good thing to leave in her crate while I'm away. Very durable and good quality. Thumbs up from me :)

My beagle/hound mix destroyed the red Kongs quickly, but doesn't seem to be ripping up the power chewer ones. HOWEVER, he's great at LOSING them in the yard. I wish the super durable ones came in some color other than black. If they were bright orange or yellow or something, I could find them where he hides them around the yard.

I have an 8 month old bull terrier puppy who chewed this toy in half in less than a week. He loves it though! I'm going to try a bigger size (as Kong recommends) and see if the larger size is tough enough.

My 1 1/2 year 13 lb mini daschund has ripped through three xtra large black kong toys made for "power chewer"
little by little pieces fly off... Little black rubber pieces all over the house, but I do have to say, it takes her much longer to tear these apart than other toys, I just wish it was really indestructable

While I have NOT been able to find a toy that my 165 pound mastiff cannot destroy, this Kong is the best thing I can find. It actually lasts her about two weeks before it starts being shredded into pieces and I have to take it away before my male, 220 pounds, Mastiff eats all of the shreddings as he puts everything in his mouth. Your prices are great...and so much more affordable than Petsmart. Basically for evey two I buy from you, I can get another free compared to the price Petsmart charged. I am going to check out the rubber rhino bone and see how that works as well. Thank you for helping make my babies happier!

Ruby who weighs 113 pounds right now and is 2 years old loves her Kong toys. I know that she can't destroy these toys. I will only buy Kong Toys for her. She carries her black, ultra size Kong toy in her mouth and will throw it up in the air and play like that for a long time. Don't be in the way when a Rottie throws a Kong toy in the air or you just might get whacked. Trust me it hurts.

Ruby, our 2 year old female Rottweiler who weighs 113#( at this last weigh in)LOVES her Kong products. Needless to say the Kong products are the only toys we can but since she is such a massive dog. I haven't any problems with any Kong items and will continue to buy them for the remainder of her life with us.

My 95lb German Shepherd didn't like the XL EXTREME Kong at first, and I thought I was out $26 bucks (PETCO is a RIPOFF). Now, it's the only toy that's survived his aggressive chewing and massive paws. He loves it! The rubber surface makes it slippery when he chews it, so he can never seem to get a good enough grip to break it. It keeps him busy, he's been trying to "kill" it for weeks now!
FYI, this is a great price compared to what I paid!

I have an APBT and I got one of the ULTRA size one when she was 11 months old. She had it torn in half in 45 minutes. I wish Kong made a solid ball large enough where she couldn't get her mouth around it. If she can get it in her mouth, she can destroy it in less than an hour..all but cow bones and now I am facing a vet bill for a broken tooth.

My two weimaraners LOVE their kongs, but they seemed to crumble after only a few months. I contacted Kong and was told NOT to buy the power chewer version as they are not as flexible, and can break easier if your dogs chew on the actual outside of the kong.

My lab has had the large one for over a year and just upgraded him to the ULTRA size. He managed to get some teeth marks in this one already, but seems to be holding up. He loves it. I stick a Nylabone in the end and he carries it around everywhere he goes. EXTREME CHEWERS WILL LOVE THIS

I have a 5 month old Newfoundland and let me just say, if its on the floor its fair game. However, she loses interest in the KONG after she spots a wayward shoe....
Dog ADD aside, the toy is extremely durable and easy to clean. Not even my father's leather loafers stand up to her, but this sure does.

Even though this toy is called the world's strongest toy, my 9 month old Westie puppy tore it apart in a matter of weeks. She tore the puppy Kong to pieces in a matter of a few days, and the black kong, lasted longer, so i am extremely pleased with the product! I cant wait for a newer one that can withstand even more "chews" than this one!

Sawyer is a 100 lb rottweiler puppy, who in a matter of moments can destroy the toughest of toys. We purchased this kong on a whim, and have had to purchase 3 more since (not because they get destroyed, but because he plays with it so much, it can sometimes be hard to find when you want it). This is the first thing to go in his mouth when he wakes up, and the last thing before he sleeps. I cannot say enough about this toy. We fill it with a little peanut butter each morning before we go to work or sometimes when we have company not interested in playing with him, and he is dead to the world for at least the next hour. He has had the same few since we got him a year ago. If you don't have one, you need to get one!

I can not say enough good things about the Kong. It is the best toy ever invented. I am always using various foods to put inside, and it keeps my two rambunctious weimaraners calm for hours. Even after they've eaten what's inside, they still love them! A must have!

Kongs are great products and my 65lb shep mix will lick the red ones forever. Unfortunately, my 42lb pit mix chewed the black kong to bits trying to get the stuffing out of the bottom. So far no toy has held up to her chewing.
That being said, we give stuffed Kongs to many of the dogs at the shelter I volunteer at and they LOVE it. Helps release some of their anxiety.

I have a mini doxie, and he has a jaw like a rotti. The only toys we can get him are the Kong ones. He's got the red ball, and the black Kongs. Even the black ones are ripped to shreads, but it takes him a while. Even though they aren't indestructable, as claimed, we'll still get them for him. He's 2 years old, and a terror. But we love him, and will keep buying those Kongs. The red Ball lasts forever, which is great.

Our 2 year old Pit Bull is a power chewer and LOVES the giant Kong! She destroys most toys, but so far the black Extreme Kong toys seem to hold up really well. Still on the first one and it's been about 2 months. No chunks out of the rubber or anything. We smear it with peanut butter and freeze it. She goes crazy trying to lick every last bit out! Also has done well with the Kong Extreme Goodie Bone. Make sure its the BLACK one!

I brought the Ultra for my gsd, thinking he would use his mouth to exercise his gums and teeth. But he hardly ever use his mouth on it; he would rather move his paws back and forth to take everything out in a matter of minutes. I even stuff lots of treats to fill it to the top, but no mouthing was considered. There were also no treats I could find big enough to fit tight in the ultra kong either. The only thing able to make him use his mouth is the Stuff-N paste, yet too much paste equal too much calories therefore I now don't use the ultra kong. I now use my X-Large Black Kong I brought for my other female gsd, making him want to actually put the effort in mouthing it. If you don't want to get frustrated, please consider puchasing the X-Large Black Kong.

Like several other satisfied users, Ive found this toy great for pits. Both my own dogs and the various fosters get part of each meal stuffed inside a chew toy. 42# pit girl can get almost anything out of the 4 size red or black. 65#, 11-mo-old foster pit can remove ANYTHING we put in there - and we use pliers to force treats in tightly! He utterly destroys red ones of any size, but the black 5 Kong is still usable. Excellent toy, albeit pricey.

Black Kongs have lasted some of my guys for years. Stuffed with food, theyre especially useful for the foster dogs, some of whom have to be crated for several hours daily. Cost more but worth it. That said, a 55# 10-month-old foster Pit did manage to chew the tops off a couple XLs. Possibly an ultra would have resisted longer

Black Kongs are practically indestructible! They can, however be destroyed and therefore, need to be inspected occasionally. Ingested particles need to be surgically removed, however, the black kong gets my vote as the best dog chew ever made!

They wrestle over them, they love to drop them and watch them bouce crazy bc of the shape, they chew and chew and chew and CANNOT destroy it!! I started out with 2 to see how long they would last... after about 6 months, Im sold! Im buying 2 more now!

This is a great toy at the end of the day when my LabPit wants something extra to do for a couple minutes before he crashes. But NOT a substitute for regular 2-3 hours of daily excerise, usually the case of aggressive chewing, because the dog is frustrated at lack of excerise. But otherwise, when my dog needs something to focus on,this is a good strong toy that can withstand his bite.

Our dog is a desstructive chewer. The only thing he doesnt shred in minutes are his kongs and nylabones. We feed him in his Kongs. We fill 3 black kongs with food and soak them to get the food to mush together a little bit then freeze them. It takes him about 30 minutes to get all his food out, so with 3 kongs that is 90 minutes to finish his meal. He really goes at these things too. Licking, chomping, throwing them in the air, you name it. He ends up wearing them down and they will fall apart in 4-6 months. This is likely due to the freezethaw cycle they go through twice a day but I was still a bit disappointed in this supposedly indestructible toy. Still it is by far the best toy out there for these purposes.

Very durable and bouncy, however I volunteer at a shelter and one of our dogs got his mouth stuck in the large opening and had to have surgery to remove. Still a great toy and have one for my own golden retriever. Would just monitor their use as with any dog toy or treat.

Ive always been fond of the kong products for my dogs, but with my new dog, I cant seem to find anything he cant chew through! I bought him the largest size in this black kong and he LOVES it without any treats even inside! but he can start ripping off large pieces of rubber within the first hour of chewing it! The problem is the hole at the top & bottom of the Kong. He knows that he can get his teeth in there and rip the Kong apart that way. If they could create a second version of this beehive kong shape WITHOUT the 2 holes, it would be PERFECT!! :

I have a pit bull who is an obsessive chewer/destroyer and has gone through almost all of the "indestructable" toys we have given her. This toy, however, has held up to it's name. After a year and a half it has only a few holes and she hasn't lost interest. If you're looking for something tough, I highly recommend this toy.

This is the third Kong toy I bought for my pitbull and I highly recommend it. It is very durable and he is totally entertained while trying to get his dog biscuits out. The black Kong toys hold up better than the red Kong toys - my dog proves this as his proven method for getting the biscuits out is to crush them inside the kong. His large red Kong is now too soft, but the black one has held up better.

I have been searching and searching for a few years for a toy that my Rottweiler would play with. Oh, my goodness, did I find it!!
Thanks to the other reviewers on this toy, I decided to go ahead and purchase 2 large black Kongs: one for my Rottie and one for my Golden Retriever.
My Rottweiler loves this toy so much that she protects it and growls at my Golden if she thinks that my Golden is even thinking about trying to get her toy!
I'm so happy with this toy ... I'd buy her another one in a heartbeat if something ever happens to this one.
From one dog lover to another, happy chewing! :)

The day I adopted my 3rd pitbull he spent the first 8 hours destroying every dog toy in the house. I'd never seen anything like it. Then a co-worker gave me the largest sized black Kong that her Newfoundland had no interest in. Ozzie loved it! Kongs toys and balls are all I buy him now. Though he has chewed the smallest end off of a medium sized red Kong(after many months of chewing), I highly recommend Kongs. Judging from my Ozzie, I would consider the black ones virtually risk-free as far as safety. I always say, whoever invented Kong toys deserves to be as wealthy as they are!
