A good clipper for Standard Poodles, 6/27/2012

Cynfranks from Michigan

This is my first clipper and my first reaction was how well made it is. I did my research on clippers for standard poodles and this one was the most recommended. I knew the blades would get hot, that's normal for all clippers. I purchased a second blade and switch them. My second blade is an Oster Elite and stays cool twice as long as the regular blades. The instructions that come with the clipper are not very good, but the Oster Customer Service is very good. I couldn't figure out how to switch the blades from the instructions, but the CS Rep gave me very good advice and I've not had any other issues. I use a piece of marble to cool the bade not in use. I've not noticed the unit getting hot.

Too HOT to handle!!!, 6/30/2010

Amanda P. from Seattle, WA

I work in a high volume salon. After my training I decided to upgrade from a Conair Pro to these, and now I end up using my old Conair clippers more and more. I really don't like these clippers. They are really loud (even for clippers), heavy, awkward to handle, and worst of all they get very HOT. I'm not talking about the blades getting hot (which will happen no matter what clippers you are using), I'm talking about the clippers themselves getting hot. I decided to go for a universal rotary motor because of the extra torque, but I had no idea that this type of motor produced so much heat. The vents on the side of the casing make it worse. If they don't blow hot air on your hand, they are blowing hot air on the dog. After spending way too much money on these, I think they are going to be "retired" to the bottom drawer, only to be used for severe matting and only for short periods of time.

Bulletproof, 12/20/2007

Jim Crai from Juneau, AK

I too found that these clippers got hot pretty quick. They are my first set of pet clippers, so I have nothing to compare it to. I did find was that the product is very well made. We bought these to trim our avalanche dogs paws and feathers so they dont get too many snow balls stuck to them when working. We dont use them for extended periods of time, so overall we are pretty satisfied.

Beware, 8/9/2007

Jasmine from santa clara california

These get too hot too fast. I am disapointed. We were only using these for less then 10 min on a clean dog. I am not satisfied.

Very Pleased With This Clipper, 6/30/2007

Terri from Winnemucca, NV

I have tried the cheaper trimmers and could never get the trimmers to cut the hair. This one is very nice. I have 7 maltese and keep the trimmer very busy and havent had any problems.

hate it , 2/24/2007

Angela from wisconsin

The oster clippers get too hot and they are too noisy. They are also bad if you have any bit of wrist troubles. They are hard to hang on to because of the shape and they are heavy. I personally use an andis its light weight, quiet, it can run forever without getting hot also the company is great.

Turbo A5 Oster Clipper, 1/9/2007

K Sampson from Glasgow,Mt

These clippers are by far my favorite all around clipper. I have the double K - blades heat up to quickly and the cable is awkward. The Laube with battery pack, doesn‘t make great connection and I should have sent them back. I have 4 2 speeds and 2 single speeds, Love them all. Add a clipper vac to them and you are all set. I have been doing this for 20 years, you can‘t go wrong with an Oster.
